The Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation invites you to submit an abstract to the 2021 BioInterface Virtual Workshop & Symposium!

Authors are encouraged to submit the online submission form by April 30, 2021. Unlike most Academic symposia, full disclosure of materials, methods, and funding sources is encouraged, but NOT required so that presenters may speak about their latest work before it is published in full detail elsewhere.

Accepted abstracts will be published on the BioInterface 2021 app that is only accessible to registered attendees. Please submit one form per abstract submission.

Submit only ONE abstract for each presentation; do NOT submit multiple copies of the same abstract, do NOT submit in blinded format, and do include your name, your address and e-mail address on any submitted abstract.

A primary or secondary author on the abstract is expected to present the paper. Should an emergency situation occur at the time of your presentation at BioInterface 2021, please notify the Chair of your session as soon as possible. It is the presenting author's obligation to ensure that the abstract is presented.

Presenting authors MUST register and pay to attend the event. Online registration will be available on the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation website soon.

Notification of acceptance or rejection will be e-mailed in May. The final selection of abstracts for presentation and placement of accepted abstracts in the program format will be made by the Program Committee.

Type the abstract title in upper and lower case letters. Use a concise and descriptive title.

The <3500 character abstract needs to address how the work described relates to biointerface.
Abstracts accepted for podium presentation will be provided 15 minutes for didactic presentation, followed by 5 minutes for discussion. The nature of the multiple session format makes it imperative that these times limits by strictly observed by all participants.

We ask that you submit one image/headshot of yourself for use in our online and print-based marketing. Send us a .jpg or .png of yourself, that is a minimum of 500 pixels wide and 72 dpi. 72 dpi/resolution for web or 300 dpi/resolution for print.

1000 pixels = 3.333 inches
900 pixels = 3.000 inches
800 pixels = 2.666 inches
700 pixels = 2.333 inches
600 pixels = 2.00 inches
500 pixels = 1.667 inches

Presenter Agreement

If my abstract is selected to be included in the program, I agree to all of the following:

• I agree to participate as a Speaker for the BioInterface 2021 Virtual Symposium and Workshop. 

• I understand that deadlines are extremely important and agree to meet all of them. I also agree that it is my responsibility to meet these deadlines without multiple reminders.

• I will work with my Session Chair, as necessary, to ensure the best presentation possible.

• I agree to present the session as it is agreed upon with my Session Chair.

• I understand that any expenses I may incur to participate in this conference are my responsibility and will not be reimbursed by the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation (SIBF).

• I will notify SIBF immediately in the event that an emergency would prevent me from meeting my obligation as a conference speaker.

• Since continuing education is a prime function of this event, I will make my presentation, or a pdf of accepted published material, available to BioInterface attendees. The Foundation will collect the final version of the published presentation at the conference registration desk or it may be emailed to ingrid@surfaces.org.

• I will also contribute, as part of continuing education, an article from my presentation to SurFACTS, the official newsletter of the Surfaces in Biomaterials Foundation. Articles can be sent to ingrid@surfaces.org

• I understand I will be allotted time for my presentation and Q&A. 

• By signing, I hereby understand and agree that if I do not complete and submit materials on or before set deadlines that my information will not be included in conference materials.

• I warrant and represent that, to the best of my knowledge, nothing in my presentation violates any proprietary or personal rights of others (including, without limitation, any copyright or privacy rights) is factually accurate, and contains nothing libelous or otherwise unlawful.

• I warrant and represent that my presentation is my own original work, that I have the authority to enter into this Agreement, and that I am the sole copyright holder or that I have obtained all necessary permissions or licenses from any persons or organizations whose material is included or used in my presentation.

I understand that an agreement to speak at the BioInterface conference equates to agreement for SIBF to:
1) use my name and/or image in photos, video, internet transmission or other media,
2) create and use conference speaker ‘teaser or promotional interviews’ for publicity of sessions (audio and/or video),
3) video record my session for posting on the SIBF website for access by members only.
